There are many kinds of pearls and the one thing they have in common is pure beauty. If you are in search of quality pearls, you need to know where to look and what to look for. For instance, freshwater pearls, which are considered as the most abundant of all pearls, have distinct qualities that you need to look for in order to find the best pieces. They come in various natural colors such as white, peach, mauve, pink, cream, and sometime gray. Freshwater pearls which have been treated with dye would sometimes have residue that you need to wash off before using them. The dye used sometimes catches on the string although this will not be apparent at first glance so you have to take a closer look when you are buying these pieces. You will find that freshwater pearls are not as round as saltwater pearls. They are also quite durable than most pearls as they are resistant to chipping, scratching, and other abrasions which makes them last a very long time. Their natural colours are usually well preserved through time because of their inherent durability although you still need to care for them really well if you intend to keep them as beautiful as when you first bought them. Pearls are not only precious stones, they also represent something that goes deeper than a woman’s love for expensive jewellery. Their journey starts from a little piece of dirt getting into the shell of a sea creature and culminates in the formation of a tiny little piece of beauty.
